I’ve heard it say ‘don’t eat in a restaurant that has pictures on the menu’ but in this case, you’d be well-served to make an exception (there are plentiful photos on the website)! I recently discovered the Spice Hut in Comox, thanks to the recommendation of my dear friends and clients Jim and Pat McLean, and I’ll be going back there on a regular basis. We had a superb meal of the best curry I’ve had since Viji’s in Vancouver (and that’s saying something as their chef and owner are world famous). The service was great and so was the food.
I had the Chicken Marsala and we’d been warned that when you say ‘make it hot’ at the Spice Hut, you’d better mean it – the medium was tasty and hot, unlike some Indian Restaurants who just don’t seem to believe you when you say you like it to have a kick. Of course, I’ve been back already and the second time I had Chicken Korma which was equally as good and had a totally different flavour. My friends splurged on delicious Tandoori Prawn dishes and Kevin had Coconut Naans which I’d never heard of before (next time?). The service was prompt and polite and our waitress was helpful with ideas and knowledgeable about the menu choices. Check out the menu here and if you try a dish you’d like to recommend, please let me know!
